What is Best Companies?

We have been awarded our 3-star accreditation from Best Companies, an independent body, based on our colleague’s feedback, derived from the 'b-Heard survey.' The anonymous b-Heard survey measures team members engagement across eight factors: Leadership, My Manager, My Company, Personal Growth, Wellbeing, Fair Deal, My Team and Giving Something Back and provides valuable insights into how team members truly feel about their organisation. High results from the survey can earn you:

  • 'Ones to Watch' status, which shows a commitment to workplace engagement.
  • ‘One Star’ accreditation which represents good levels of workplace engagement.
  • ‘Two Star’ accreditation which represents outstanding levels of workplace engagement.
  • ‘Three Star’ accreditation which is the highest level of accreditation and represents world-class levels of workplace engagement

The Best Companies Accreditation and the Best Companies to Work for Lists are the gold standard for measuring workplace engagement.


How Did we Do it?

How did we get here? Over the last 12 months, we have experienced substantial growth, both organically and through strategic acquisition. Our team has expanded from 225 colleagues this time last year to 335 today at current, driving our turnover from £15.6m (last year) to £18.6m (year to date). This growth enables us to reinvest in attracting and hiring individuals who share our core values and in current colleagues who enable our continued growth. Recognising our colleagues for their exceptional contributions throughout the year, is a key part of our culture, underpinning our continued success.

We reinvest in comprehensive training programs to ensure ongoing professional development and clear career paths. Our development initiatives include a management academy, CPD courses, and a skills matrix. We also prioritise lifestyle and mental wellbeing through our Employee Assistance Programme, dedicated meeting-free times, rewards programs, and various outdoor activities and groups.

One of our core values is ‘We enjoy what we do’ - we are a sociable company, and have regular team building events, which strengthens relationships between teams and is a key part of our Company culture. One of our highest scoring factors is ‘Giving Something Back’ and our colleagues feedback that our charitable activities, work we do in the community and our efforts to reduce our impact on the environment is something that they highly value.
