As part of yesterday's budget, a new £1.7bn Transforming Cities Fund has been announced by the chancellor Philip Hammond which aims to "back the Northern Powerhouse, the Midlands Engine and elected mayors across the UK."
Andrew Jackson, CEO at Intercity Technology, weighs up on the announcement, and it's impact on the organisation:
“As a Birmingham-headquartered tech business, we’re pleased to hear that more is being done to direct investment into and promote growth within the city. The region’s £250m allocation from the Transforming Cities Fund will ensure that tech businesses have access to the necessary funding to innovate and develop a talented and skilled workforce.
“It’s important for the UK to keep toe-to-toe with global tech leaders like China and America. The news that the government is investing wholeheartedly into developing multiple clusters will help to create a country that is fit for the future, and mean that the UK will become a force to be reckoned with.”
